Representing the Club is a big honour, so Juniors at the Club are encouraged to participate in matches. We arrange team match play against other local clubs during the summer in Aegon Team Tennis, providing a really good opportunity to get to know other children competing in the local area, and we can assist with entering local tournaments too.
We have three teams entered in the local Leagues in 2018 and if you enjoy competitive tennis we would like to hear from you. Please contact the relevant team captain.
Spectators are very welcome so please come along to support the teams at the home matches on Courts 1 and 2 from 6.30pm on most Wednesday and Friday evenings throughout the season. If matches have to be postponed it may be necessary to reschedule them over a weekend but a notice will be displayed in the clubhouse to this effect.
All fixtures and results, home and away, are displayed in the Clubhouse and on the relevant League’s website.
Mixed Team Summer 2017
The mixed team played in the South Devon Summer Tennis League Division 3 this year. Ten matches were played and we won 4, drew 2 and lost 4. This resulted in the team gaining 46 points and finishing 2nd at the end of the season.
Thanks to the main lady players Maggie Wych, Alison Arnold, Melanie Kempson, Jane Margetts and Dawn Presland, plus a special thanks to Lyndsay Boteler and Daphne Driver who helped out on a number of occasions. Thanks also to the men who played – Terry Nickels, Adam Harvey, Steve Arnold, Mark Cox, Alastair Grieve, Dan Pitts and Chris Laycock.
A lot of enjoyment was had by all and we look forward to next season!
Ladies Team – Summer 2017
We played against 7 teams in Division 5 of the Exeter & District League, with 4 wins, 3 draws and 7 losses. Despite so many losses, the matches were always very even and very enjoyable. 5 of the 8 teams ended the season very close in points so it remains to be seen who goes down to the 6th division! Rain interrupted play quite often, and several matches had to be re-arranged which is always disruptive. Big thanks to the ladies team – Alison, Michelle, Jenny, the two Janes, Dawn, Lindsay, Maggie and Daphne. We’re looking forward to playing in the Winter League – the cold weather keeps us alert!
